As a landlord, the Port Director can negotiate written lease agreements and/or temporary operating agreements to enable transload operations, material storage agreements, and other commercial use of property controlled by the Port.
The Port is solely responsible for all vessel berth assignments at Port Milwaukee. Assignments are made through the Port's Harbormaster (or his/her designee) as directed by the Port Director.
The rates, terms, and conditions for usage of Port Milwaukee's Terminal 1 ("Open Dock") facility is at the sole discretion of the Port Director and/or the Harbormaster (or his/her designee). Non-Port tenant uses may be considered by the Port Director in accordance with the process described in the Milwaukee Port Tariff.
The Port offers a variety of crane equipment, which can be made available by special arrangement and application. A listing of Port Milwaukee crane equipment as well as applicable labor and equipment rates is identified in the Port Tariff.
By special arrangement with the Harbormaster, electrical service is available at select Port Milwaukee facilities.
By special arrangement with the Harbormaster, potable water is available at select Port Milwaukee facilities.
The Port can avail a variety of miscellaneous work equipment at nominal rental rates by special arrangement and application. Please reference the Milwaukee Port Tariff for a complete list of available equipment.
Special dockage arrangements may be requested via the Port Director and/or the Harbormaster (or his/her designee). Such arrangements must be approved prior to vessel arrival at Port Milwaukee.
Vessel wharfage and landborne receipts will be charged at rates approved annually as part of the MIlwaukee Port Tariff, unless otherwise agreed to in writing by the Port Director. Project cargo rates are the sole discretion of the Port Director.
Port Milwaukee will evaluate all applications for winter mooring space in the order received. The Port reserves the right to refuse mooring to vessels of sizes exceeding the capacity of available space. Port Milwaukee further reserves the right to designate the berth and position of any vessel placed at mooring. All vessels mooring in waters under the control of Port Milwaukee shall moor and unmoor at this own risk. Please reference the Milwaukee Port Tariff for complete rates.
The City of Milwaukee’s Code of Ordinances and other statutes gives the Port Director and/or the Harbormaster (or his/her designee), via the Board of Harbor Commissioners, the authority for vessels moored in the harbor, aquatic events, use of the urban park, dockwall construction and surveys, and use of the Confined Disposal Facility.
