MS Hamburg on a Great Lakes cruise

Hamburg vessel docked at Port Milwaukee

Plantours Cruises steers with the MS Hamburg as the only German cruise ship to the Great Lakes. This is possible by the special construction of the smallest cruise ship in Germany.

For the passage through the 15 locks of the Great Lakes - St. Lawrence Seaway (GLSLS) system, the Captain of MS Hamburg can retract parts of the bridge so that only a few centimeters remain between ship and the lock wall.

The MS Hamburg cruise to the Great Lakes is a varied combination of culture, nature and city break. Said Oliver Steuber, Managing Director: "The natural phenomenon and the metropolises Chicago, Toronto, Detroit, Milwaukee and Cleveland... make an absolutely varied program."

Plantours cruises has been awarded for excellent routing: The trips on the Great Lakes are considered a highlight of the new program; the MS Hamburg travels two times each year to the the GLSLS, the largest inland waterway in the world. Forthcoming travel dates for the Great Lakes with the MS Hamburg include September 15 - October 2, 2019; October 2, 2019 - October 18, 2019; and October 3 - October 20, 2020.
